A place in the sun

Our group company in Spain is located about ten kilometres west of Barcelona. With its warm, sunny Mediterranean climate, this may come as no great surprise: One of the major competence centres for our photovoltaic solutions is located here. A real place in the sun - with plenty of positive energy for the future.

46 years of innovative strength.

Josep Rovira, Managing Director of Weidmüller Spain and the Southern Europe region.

After its foundation in 1979, the group company quickly found its way into the local markets. According to Josep Rovira, Managing Director of Weidmüller Spain, as well as of South Europe Area, this was initially via the automotive industry: ‘Spain is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. So it made sense for us to gradually approach the machine and cabinet builders via this market.’

The markets then developed rapidly in the 1990s: ‘Segments such as energy, transport and process energy became increasingly important.’ Weidmüller Spain has always focussed on close cooperation with system integrators and distribution partners in the further development of its markets. The aim is to create real added value for customers:

In the area of photovoltaic solutions in particular, Weidmüller Spain became a real centre of expertise. ‘But we havealso increasingly developed great innovative strength in the field of PLC Migration systems,’ says Rovira.

A team for the future.

During the 2024 UEFA Euros, Weidmüller Spain left no doubt as to who would win the tournament - with success.

Today, Weidmüller Spain employs 160 colleagues from eleven different countries. For Josep Rovira, the local team is a real asset: ‘The Group company has an international mindset. We are very flexible when it comes to global and local market conditions. Coupled with Weidmüller's typical pioneering spirit, this is a great mix.’

Rovira and his team believe they are ideally positioned for future challenges: ‘Resource-saving technologies and renewable energies are becoming increasingly important in the face of climate change. That's why we - together with the entire Weidmüller Group - are developing solutions for automation, digitalisation and electrification. We are also constantly reducing the CO2 footprint of our processes. This is our way into the future.’

The PV sector is a real growth market in Spain, in which we have positioned ourselves as the local market leader.

Weidmüller offers the right solutions for all areas of PV: From tools, cables and connectors to fuses, combiner boxes and lightning and surge protection.
