Flexible control system for automation and digitalisation wins over the jury at the important innovation award
Detmold, 25 June 2020. The prize that reveals innovations: The Detmoldbased electrical engineering company Weidmüller has received the German Innovation Award 2020 for the "Machines & Engineering" category in the "Excellence in Business to Business" competition class. The independent jury awarded the prize for u-control 2000 web, a web-based control system, which scored points thanks to its IoT capability, scalability to meet requirements and compact u-remote design. "With u-control 2000 web, we have developed a simple web-based and efficient control system that optimally supports industrial IoT applications and responds to any user needs," explains Dr Thomas Bürger, Head of Weidmüller's Automation and Digitalisation Products division. "We are pleased that the jury also recognised the great innovation potential – this is both praise and incentive for us."
Innovations as the basis for entrepreneurial success The German Innovation Award honours products and solutions from all sectors which differ from previous solutions, particularly in terms of being user centred and adding value. After all, innovations that shape the future and improve life are found in all industries. This is not Weidmüller's first award for its innovative capability. At the beginning of the year, Weidmüller received the German Design Award and the German Excellence Prize. "Innovations, together with application competence, end-to-end procedures and state-of-the-art production processes are the basis for commercial success," explains Weidmüller's Speaker of the Executive Board and Chief Technology Officer, Volker Bibelhausen. "We therefore invest continuously in research and development, and will give even greater focus in future towards developing IIoT solutions which enhance our existing portfolio."
Great response to the German Innovation Award 2020 The German Innovation Award is presented by the German Design Council and once again received a great response in 2020 with 700 submissions. Founded by the German parliament and sponsored by German industry, the German Design Council is an independent and internationally active institution committed to the competitiveness of companies.
