The Varitector PU AC 1 S-Line surge protectors from Weidmüller provide Type 1 protection with a discharge current of up to 25 kA in a module that is just 17.8 mm wide – half the width of other products with a similar rating on the market. The competitively priced modules also offer fuseless operation up to 315 A which, in many applications, allows further cost and space savings to be achieved by eliminating the need for an upstream protection device.
The surge protectors feature integral indication which allows users to see instantly whether the device is fully operational, or in need of replacement after passing a large surge current. A contact output is also provided for remote indication of module status. The protection modules feature a plug-in design with secure positive locking which makes them fast and easy to replace without disturbing the wiring. A unique coding system ensures that only replacement modules of the correct type can be fitted.
Fully compliant with the requirements of IEC 61643-11, Varitector PU AC 1 surge protectors have zero leakage current, thanks to their use of Phase GDT technology, and will withstand the continuous application of voltages up to 275 V AC. Under surge conditions, they clamp the peak voltage in the circuit they are protecting to less than 1.5 kV and, after operation, they have a low follow-on current which will not blow a 16 A gG fuse.
Varitector PU AC 1 S-Line surge protectors are fully coordinated with other protection devices in Weidmüller’s extensive Varitector range. This makes them ideal for use in systems that are required to provide comprehensive Type I, II and III surge protection.
