Excellent energy management
Weidmüller was honoured with the renowned GreenTec Award in the Production category for its holistic energy efficiency concept.
The Niemeierstrasse production facility at Weidmüller's headquarter in Detmold was distinguished for its exemplary and integrated implementation of energy efficient measures, both in the building, as well as in production.
“We are extremely proud of this award, as it shows that many years of effort promoting energy efficiency has also paid off in our own company”, Weidmüller's Chief Financial Officer Harald Vogelsang enthuses during a free moment at the awards ceremony in Munich which he has attended with Head of International Facility & Energy Management, Helene Derksen-Riesen.
“We not only consider the GreenTec Award an honour, but also as a spur for us to maintain our resolve in developing ecologically sustainable solutions.”

Energy efficiency as a holistic system implemented within the company
Weidmüller had already been officially acclaimed by the German government as a climate protection company for its measures in increasing energy efficiency over the past year. Weidmüller understands and practices energy efficiency as a holistic system implemented within the company.
“An intelligent and energy-efficient factory is not a vision for the future,” Derksen-Riesen explains. With its production facility completed in 2011, Weidmüller demonstrates that up to 1,700 t CO2 can be saved per year by integrating production and infrastructure.
“The high degree of efficiency is primarily achieved through the holistic implementation of energy and resource conservation: from the energy-efficient building shell through to the pioneering production processes,” Derksen-Riesen reports.
